COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Case of Juan Garcia Module explores the case of Juan Garcia, an older Hispanic undocumented worker with diabetes, congestive heart failure and periodontal disease. Topics covered include working with an interpreter, Hispanic culture, components of cultural proficiency, fear of deportation, emergency care and the Federal Health Care Safety Net, geriatric oral health, psychosocial care and spiritual care, and using rituals.

Prerequisite: FlourishCare: Integrated Person-Centered Geriatric Primary Care
